On the 20th of November 2021 43082 was started up for the first time in over a year. The batteries had a full charge and she was connected to the shore supply to ensure that electrical systems were working. She was then topped up with coolant and oil and then started on the second attempt. We are very grateful to the EMR staff that came down to help us. Without them it would not have been possible. It was a very enjoyable day.
First Great Western blue liveried 43071 arrived at the Colne Valley railway on the 5th of November 2021. This is the final power car that we have purchased. 43071 needs cosmetic restoration but we are hopeful to get her started in 2022. 43071 is an MTU engined vehicle and this has been chosen to give us potential options for spares and servicing in the future.
EMR liveried HST power car 43073 arrived at the Colne Valley Railway on the 3rd of November 2021. The vehicle is in very similar condition to 43082. 43073 was withdrawn sometime in 2020 and has not been started since. The vehicle retains its Neville Hill nameplate as it was allocated to Neville Hill for all of its working life. 43073 will be assessed over the coming weeks but the focus will be on starting 43082.
